THE GUIDE TO CHOOSING

Which Ninja Crispi
for your kitchen?

A meal for two, a big family dish, or fish with vegetables cooked separately: you do not need the same appliance for each. Here is how to choose between the Crispi, the Pro and the DualZone, based on what you actually cook.

The three main Ninja Crispi models: the Crispi on the left, the Crispi Pro in the centre and the Crispi DualZone on the right.

A FIRST CHOICE IN A FEW LINES

Start from the way you cook.

A very specific need: five modes are enough, or a grill plate
Pro AS090 Pro Grill AS104Two options to check for their exact functions: the AS090 has neither Roast nor Dehydrate; the AS104 adds Grill, with documentation that is still partial.

YOUR MEALS, YOUR MODEL

Which Crispi suits the way you cook?

Think of three meals you cook often. Do you make them in a single dish? Do they need different temperatures? Does your oven already handle part of the meal? These answers are more useful than the number of programmes on the box.

01 · SMALL KITCHEN AND EVERYDAY COOKING

You cook for one or two, with little space.

Start by looking at the classic Crispi. For portions of fish, vegetables, potatoes or leftovers to crisp up, its Air Fry and Recrisp modes already cover everyday uses. The PowerPod comes off the container for storage.

The pack matters as much as the model: the FN101 includes a small 1.4 L container, while the FN201 comes with a 2.3 L. Both also have a 3.8 L. Choose the small size that matches your usual portions, without buying a bundle of extra containers straight away.

What would tip you towards a Pro: you want to follow recipes with a precise temperature or bake cakes regularly. The classic Crispi does not allow these settings.

02 · A LARGE DISH TO SHARE

You cook a family dish in a single container.

The Pro AS101 is the one to look at first. Its 5.7 L container and Roast mode suit a large preparation, such as a roast chicken or a big side of vegetables. The small 2.3 L container lets you switch size on days when you cook less.

The two containers supplied take turns on the station: they do not cook together. If your dinner has a main and a side with different settings, plan to cook them one after the other or use another appliance for one of them.

The right criterion: the size of the dish that has to fit in one container. The DualZone’s combined litres do not replace one large container.

03 · MAIN AND SIDE

You want to serve two hot dishes together.

The DualZone answers exactly this need. Picture salmon on one side and potatoes on the other: the times and settings can differ. With Smart Finish, you programme both zones and the appliance arranges for them to finish together. You still need to choose a recipe and quantities suited to each container.

This separation also helps when guests want different seasonings or foods. If you cook the same thing twice, Match Cook copies the settings of the first zone to the second, except on Max Crisp.

The trade-off: two 3.8 L containers, more space taken up on the worktop and power shared when both zones are running. Two zones do not automatically mean a meal cooked faster.

04 · CAKES AND DOUGH

You also want to bake.

Compare the Pro AS090 and AS101. Both offer Bake, an adjustable temperature for this mode and Prove for dough. If these functions are what matter most to you, the AS101’s two extra modes are not necessarily decisive.

The DualZone DD102 also has Bake and Proof. Its advantage is then the split into two containers, while the Pro models offer the 5.7 L size. The choice depends on the dish and the space it needs, not just on the word “Bake”.

Not suited to this use: a cake recipe designed for a Pro does not simply carry over to the classic Crispi, which has neither Bake nor a temperature setting. None of these options guarantees that your usual baking tins will fit in the container either.

05 · LEFTOVERS AND MEALS MADE AHEAD

You mainly want to crisp up your meals again.

Recrisp is available on all five models. This use alone therefore does not justify the model with the most programmes. The classic Crispi can be a sensible first choice if its containers suit your portions; a Pro is justified more by the size of its large container or its other modes.

When preparing several meals ahead, separate two needs: having containers to store portions, and cooking several things at the same time. A pack with three containers meets the first need. It does not turn a Crispi or a Pro into a three-zone appliance.

Do not confuse Recrisp and Keep Warm: the first crisps up and reheats; the second keeps an already hot dish warm. Keep Warm is available on the classic Crispi and the DD102, but not on the Pro models covered here.

06 · GRILLING OR DEHYDRATING

You are looking for a particular function.

To dehydrate, choose the AS101 or the DD102. The Pro AS090 and the Pro Grill do not offer Dehydrate. Before paying for this function, ask yourself whether you really plan to use it: it changes nothing in your usual Air Fry recipes.

For a dedicated grill plate, look at the AS104. It is the model that lists the Grill mode. That does not make it a Pro AS101 with all the same functions plus a plate: its list of modes and the containers supplied are different.

Our reservation about the Pro Grill: the temperature ranges and some features are still to be confirmed in a full instruction manual. If you want a Grill function with well-documented settings, check this point before choosing this model.

LITRES, PORTIONS AND AVAILABLE SPACE

What capacity for your household?

The number of people is a starting point, but two meals for four can take up very different volumes. A side of vegetables, four portions of fish laid out in the container and a whole joint are not thought through in the same way. Look at the shape of the food and the quantities in your recipes too.

One or two people
Look first at the small container supplied, 1.4 L or 2.3 L depending on the pack. A large container remains useful for preparing several portions ahead.
Three or four people
Ask yourself whether the Crispi cooks the whole meal or just one part of it. For the whole meal, compare one large Pro container with two DualZone containers, depending on your habits.
A large dish to share
The Pro’s 5.7 L gives you a single container. Check the quantities in the recipe: “up to six people” is not a promise that holds for every dish.
Two different dishes
The DualZone gives you two 3.8 L cooking spaces. The capacity of each zone remains the limit for what you put in it.

THE MOST COMMON DILEMMAS

What really makes the difference between models.

Crispi or Crispi Pro: are the settings worth paying for?

If you follow recipes designed for the Crispi, with a mode and a time, and the containers are enough for you, the Pro is not essential. It becomes more relevant when you want to choose your temperatures, use Bake or have a 5.7 L container. Write down the function you are missing today: if you cannot find one, the upgrade deserves some thought.

Pro AS090 or AS101: when do the two extra modes matter?

Choose according to your recipes: the AS101 adds Roast and Dehydrate. If you want to use roasting recipes without adapting them, Roast is a real criterion. If you mostly cook with Air Fry, Bake and Recrisp, the AS090 may be enough. Then compare the final price and accessories of both offers; five modes do not guarantee a better deal.

Pro or DualZone: one large container or a split meal?

The Pro meets the need for one large container. The DualZone meets the need for two separate cooking cycles. For a whole chicken or a large dish, look at the Pro AS101 first. To cook fish and vegetables separately, look at the DualZone. If your oven already cooks the side, you may have less need for a second zone.

CHECK THE FUNCTIONS YOU NEED

Comparing modes and containers.

Air Fry and Recrisp are common to the whole range covered here. The differences are in the other modes, the temperature setting and how the containers are organised. Compare the appliance’s model number, not just its trade name.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT PACK

What to check before you buy.

  1. Read the full model number. The AS090 and AS101 are both Crispi Pro models, with different modes. For the DualZone, this page compares the European DD102 with eight modes, not the British DD101 with six.
  2. Count the containers you will actually use. An extra small container can be handy for storing a portion. It does not add a cooking zone. Compare the price of the pack with that of the appliance with only the accessories you need.
  3. Measure the space, when cooking and when stored. Think about where you will put the container when you take it out, access to the controls and the space taken by lids and accessories. Being modular does not spare you from checking the model’s dimensions.
  4. Check the containers you already own. The 1.4 L is specific to the FN100 series; some 2.3 L and 3.8 L containers are shared between the Crispi and the Pro, depending on their reference. DualZone containers are dedicated. The same volume is not proof of compatibility.
  5. Compare the cost of the whole need. Base the comparison on the exact model and the accessories you need. A promotional price or an extra mode does not make up for a container that does not suit your meals.

The questions to ask yourself before choosing.

Which model for a family of four?

For a single dish, start by looking at the Pro AS101 and its 5.7 L container. To cook a protein and its side separately, look at the DualZone. If the Crispi only prepares one part of the meal, the classic model may also suit you, depending on quantities. The number of people alone cannot guarantee that a recipe will fit in the container.

Is the model with the most modes the best?

Only if you use those modes. Recrisp is everywhere; Dehydrate is only on the AS101 and the DD102. A missing mode you use every week matters more than an extra programme you will never use. Size and the number of zones are just as decisive.

Do you need Max Crisp to make chips?

No: the classic Crispi’s guide cooks chips on Air Fry. Not having Max Crisp is therefore no reason to rule it out for this use. On the DualZone, Max Crisp runs at 240 °C in one zone at a time: it is not the programme to choose if you picture two containers at that temperature at once.

Can you follow the same recipes across the range?

You need to check the mode, the container and the settings of each model. The classic Crispi has no setting in degrees; Air Fry stops at 200 °C on the DualZone, compared with 240 °C on the Pro AS090 and AS101. A recipe that gives the settings for each appliance saves you guessing an adaptation.

Can the Crispi replace my oven?

Ask yourself which dishes you want it to handle. A Pro offers Bake and a temperature setting, but its container does not have the volume or shape of a conventional oven. For dishes that fit in its containers, it can take on some of the oven’s jobs. The classic Crispi is more limited for baking.

Is a Pro worth it if I mostly reheat leftovers?

The classic Crispi’s Recrisp mode already covers this use. Moving to a Pro makes more sense if you need a large container, an adjustable temperature or other modes. Before switching, check whether it is the capacity of your current container or a specific function that you are missing.
