Honey-glazed salmon fillets in the Ninja Crispi

A quick dinner for two with these honey-glazed salmon fillets. Cooked in the Ninja Crispi, with the ability to keep an eye on things through the glass of the 1.4 L container.

Which Ninja Crispi?

Mode used: Air Fry

Settings

  • Crispi: Air Fry, no temperature setting, 10-14 min, 1.4 L container
  • Crispi Pro (AS101), Crispi Pro (AS090): Air Fry, 200 °C, 7-12 min
  • Crispi DualZone: Air Fry, 200 °C, 8-10 min, 3.8 L container

Two salmon fillets with a honey and soy glaze, cooked in the Ninja Crispi’s small 1.4 L container: 10 to 14 minutes on Air Fry, with no cutting and no turning. The flesh stays moist under a golden glaze.

It is my dinner for low-energy evenings. I watch through the glass for the moment the sauce starts to bubble, without lifting the PowerPod.

A quick meal for two with a honey and soy sauce glaze, cooked directly in the 1.4 L glass container.

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless salmon fillets (approximately 115 to 120 g each)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp savoury soy sauce

  • 1 tsp runny honey

  • 1/2 tsp mild paprika

  • 10 g unsalted butter (optional)

  • 1 pinch sesame seeds

  • A few drops of oil (to grease the crisper plate)

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, soy sauce, honey and paprika. Pat the fillets dry with kitchen paper, then brush them generously with the mixture: they should look glossy all over.
  • Place the crisper plate at the bottom of the 1.4 L glass container and grease it with a few drops of oil so the skin does not stick when serving.
  • Lay the fillets skin side down and place the PowerPod directly on the container.
  • Select Air Fry, 10 to 14 minutes, and press START. On a Crispi Pro or Pro 5 modes: Air Fry at 200 °C, 7 to 12 minutes; on the DualZone, 8 to 10 minutes per 3.8 L container.
  • Cook without turning the fish. From 10 minutes, the marinade caramelises and bubbles, and the edges of the salmon turn opaque.
  • At 13 minutes, lift the PowerPod to pause, lay a thin slice of butter on each fillet, replace the PowerPod and press START: the glaze turns very glossy.
  • At the beep and the ‘END’ display, lift the PowerPod, sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve straight away. The flesh flakes into large pieces under a fork.

Mustard and maple syrup salmon

Replace the soy sauce and honey with 1 tablespoon of wholegrain mustard mixed with 1 teaspoon of maple syrup and a little dill.

Two fillets in the 1.4 L container, four to six in the 3.8 L

For two portions, the small 1.4 L container concentrates the heat under the PowerPod: the honey sauce browns quickly. Air Fry mode circulates the air around the flesh and the skin.

  • Crispi, 1.4 L container: 2 fillets, Air Fry 10 to 14 minutes; you only set the time.
  • Crispi, 3.8 L container with the adapter: 4 to 6 fillets of about 120 g, Air Fry 12 to 14 minutes.
  • Crispi Pro and Pro 5 modes: Air Fry at 200 °C, 7 to 12 minutes for 120 g fillets.
  • DualZone: Air Fry at 200 °C, 8 to 10 minutes for 2 fillets of 120 g per 3.8 L container.

Small bubbles round the edges: the glaze is ready

With honey in the sauce, the line between a golden glaze and a surface that is too dark is a fine one. From 10 minutes, look along the glass: the sauce forms thick little bubbles round the edges of the fish.

If the surface browns too fast, cut the cycle short.

Do not turn the fillets: the air already circulates underneath, and honey-coated fish breaks up and loses its crust. Skin side down right to the end.

Cooked in the evening, reheated on Recrisp the next day

This salmon also works for meal prep. At the end of the cycle, remove the PowerPod and let the fish cool in its container at room temperature.

Then clip on the airtight storage lid and keep it in the fridge for one to two days.

When it is time to eat, put the PowerPod back and run Recrisp for 5 to 7 minutes: the flesh heats through without turning spongy, and the glaze firms up a little.

Have you tried this honey glaze, or do you prefer your salmon plain with a squeeze of lemon juice?

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to preheat the appliance for crispy salmon skin?

No, start from cold: the salmon stays moist. Preheating is for roasts, steaks, pizza and quiches.

Can I remove the crisper plate since the salmon is marinating in a sauce?

No, keep the crisper plate at the bottom of the container: it lets the hot air circulate under the fish.

Can I leave out the butter?

Yes, it is optional. Added at 13 minutes, it simply makes the glaze glossier.
