Roasted vegetables in the Ninja Crispi

Roasted vegetables in the Ninja Crispi using the 3.8 L container in Air Fry mode. Cut evenly, stir halfway through, and serve immediately.

Which Ninja Crispi?

Mode used: Air Fry

Settings

  • Crispi: Air Fry, no temperature setting, 10-15 min, 3.8 L container
  • Crispi Pro (AS101), Crispi Pro (AS090): Air Fry, 200 °C, 10-15 min
  • Crispi DualZone: Air Fry, 200 °C, 10-15 min, 3.8 L container

To get tender vegetables on the inside with a nice golden crust on the surface, organisation and cutting technique count just as much as the heat of the appliance. The first time I prepared this dish in the Crispi, I chopped everything roughly and packed it into the container. The result: the top charred while the bottom sat in its own juices.

Since that mistake, I follow a strict organisation rule. An identical cut size for each piece and a single layer spread out without piling. The hot air from the Air Fry mode then hits the surface evenly in the large 3.8 L container, provided nothing hinders its flow around the vegetables.

Toss regularly cut summer vegetables with a drizzle of oil, then roast them in Air Fry mode in the 3.8 L container for an even golden finish.

Ingredients

  • 1 small courgette

  • 1 red pepper

  • 200 g button mushrooms

  • 1 red onion

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 pinch of salt

  • 1 pinch of ground black pepper

  • 1 tsp Herbes de Provence (optional)

Instructions

  • Wash and cut the courgette, pepper, and onion into uniform pieces of about 2 to 3 cm. Cut the mushrooms into quarters. Keep pieces a uniform size to ensure even cooking.
  • In a mixing bowl, toss all the vegetables with the olive oil, salt, pepper, and herbs. Make sure each piece is lightly coated: the vegetables should look shiny without being drenched in oil.
  • Place the crisper plate at the bottom of the 3.8 L container. The adapter is already integrated or pre-installed in the container. Arrange the vegetables in a layer as even as possible.
  • Place the PowerPod on the container. Select Air Fry mode and set the time to 10 to 15 minutes, then extend if necessary. On a Crispi Pro or DualZone: Air Fry at 200 °C, same duration.
  • Halfway through cooking, about 7 to 8 minutes in, lift the PowerPod, gently stir the vegetables with silicone-tipped tongs, then replace the PowerPod and press START to resume cooking.
  • Check cooking from 10 minutes through the glass. Extend up to 15 minutes if necessary to get tender courgettes, translucent and golden onions, and well-shrunken mushrooms.

Winter root vegetables

Replace the courgette and pepper with diced sweet potato (2 cm) and carrot. Cooking time increases to about 18 to 22 minutes in Air Fry in the 3.8 L container. Keep the same seasoning.

Air Fry and 3.8 L container: adapting the cooking space

Obtaining tender vegetables with a nice crust relies on the free circulation of hot air. That is why I use exclusively the 3.8 L container in Air Fry mode. This size offers the necessary surface area to spread out pieces without stacking them.

The approach changes depending on your equipment and the quantity prepared:

  • Crispi with 3.8 L container: Air Fry mode for 10 to 15 minutes in total, with a single well-spread layer to roast evenly.
  • Crispi with 1.4 L container: Air Fry mode, but halving the quantities. Cooking becomes a bit faster, check from 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Adjustable models (Pro, DualZone): Air Fry mode at 200 °C, with the same cooking time.

Preheating is unnecessary for fresh vegetables. You start cooking from cold directly. If you overload the container to save time, hot air hits the surface and steam stagnates at the bottom. You then end up with a dish of boiled vegetables.

Monitoring browning and turning with tongs

The transparent glass container of the Ninja Crispi serves to guide cooking in real-time, without interrupting the cycle. From 8 to 10 minutes, the edges of the courgettes begin to curl and turn slightly golden.

This is the precise moment to lift the PowerPod and stir gently with silicone tongs. This action brings the moist pieces from underneath to the top and slows the browning of the exposed layer. The most frequent mistake is cutting disparate pieces: thin onion slices brown too quickly, while the large courgette cube stays firm.

Do not shake the container to mix. The glass is heavy and becomes hot. On adjustable models like my Crispi Pro, if the underside remains pale after mixing, extend for a few minutes at the same temperature to finish browning.

Fridge storage and reheating without sogginess

Roasted vegetables quickly find their place in weekly meal prep. These proportions cover three to four portions for your lunches. Once cooking is finished, let the vegetables cool completely uncovered before sealing the container with its storage lid.

This precaution prevents condensation from softening the food. You then place the container in the fridge for three days maximum. The appliance’s format allows you to cook, store, and serve in the same container, a valuable asset in a small kitchen.

The next day, bring your vegetables back to temperature using Recrisp mode for 5 to 8 minutes. Place leftovers in the container, with the plate installed at the bottom. This very hot air dries out the moisture left by the fridge and revives the roasted texture, without drying out the tender core of the vegetables.

Frequently asked questions

Can I prepare these vegetables in the 1.4 L container?

Yes, by halving or dividing the quantities by three so you don’t stifle the appliance. Cooking speeds up a little: keep an eye on them from 8 to 10 minutes.

Do I need to preheat the Crispi before adding the vegetables?

No, it is not necessary for fresh produce in Air Fry mode. You start cooking from cold.

Can I use frozen vegetables?

Yes, but they release more water. On the basic model, increase the Air Fry time and check visually. On a Crispi Pro, use the Max Crisp mode at 240 °C.
